With twelve lawsuits and many other reports of sexual abuse by Bro. Raimond Rose, Bro. Rose finally acknowledged that he was involved in this criminal activity. In response to questions about his sexually abusive past in a case in Fargo, North Dakota, Bro. Rose asserted his Constitutional right to not incriminate himself in a crime.
Here is an example:
Interrogatory No. 19. Did you ever commit any of the following acts upon the Plaintiff?
a. Hug or kiss Plaintiff;
b. Touch Plaintiff’s genitals;
c. Instruct Plaintiff to touch and/or fondle your genitals;
d. Perform oral sex upon Plaintiff;
e. Force Plaintiff to perform oral sex upon you;
f. Anally penetrate Plaintiff with your fingers, penis, or other object;
g. Insert your fingers, penis or other object into any other part of Plaintiff’s body?
ANSWER: Defendant Rose asserts his privilege against self-incrimination under North Dakota and United States Constitutions with respect to this question.
Interrogatory No. 20. For each act in Interrogatory No. 19 that is admitted, describe the context of how the act was committed, the number of times you committed each act, where you committed each act, whether anyone witnessed the act(s), and identify who you have told about the act(s).

Interrogatory No. 21. Identify individuals, other than the Plaintiff, upon whom you have committed the acts described in Interrogatory No. 19 and for each individual, provide the information requested in Interrogatory No. 20.

This is truly appalling to me that someone who is placed in a position to be around kids can hurt them and then plead the 5th. There is truly something wrong with our judicial systems both criminally and civilly.
ReplyDeleteAny scintilla of doubt about Rose's guilt has now been removed. Now, every bishop in every diocese where he works should do everything they can to find and help the dozens of others he has hurt. But they won't, and many will keep suffering in silence, shame and self-blame, while Rose is coddled at a church facility near a Catholic school.

Rose was not involved in criminal activity by himself. Every superior, and every bishop he ever served under is equally responsible.

Raimond Rose is the most prolific clergy sex offender to ever walk across a street in Minneapolis, Fargo, St. Paul, and Concord, CA. And the Christian Brothers knew it before they shipped him to each location.

Ancient and recent history proves that the primary, overriding interest of the institutional Catholic Church is to protect the institution and it government, i.e., the hierarchy. Neither moral nor civil law nor protection of the basic human rights of the common person holds a candle to the overwhelming interest in self preservation of the prestige and power of the men in charge of the RCC. For this reason the United States of America, which is responsible for protecting our rights as human beings, should withdraw its recognition of the Vatican as a legitimate country and should dissolve any diplomatic immunity that has been granted to Vatican officials and its minions.

I'm shocked, shocked I tell you. This is clearly the attorney's fault, he should have asked easier questions.
ReplyDeleteRose pleads the 5th basically admitting his guilt. While this is good news, we all knew he was guilty. What is sad is that the so-called “Christian” Brothers have known for a long time that he is guilty. When are they going to admit they knowingly moved a pedophile from place to place and then covered up their actions? Rose is not the only criminal in this case. The Catholic church in general has shown little leadership in righting this wrong. The clergy abuse problem is not based on “petty gossip” nor are people just "picking on" the church. I don’t see any remorse by Bro. Rose, the Christian Brothers or the Catholic church (including the Pope). It seems they are only sorry this all went public!

Nothing surprises me when it comes to the Catholic Church.
ReplyDeleteI was abused repeatedly over 5 years by one of our parish priests. I reported it to one of the nuns who taught the CCD classes. What happened? After scolding me for "lying about such a holy man", the nun no longer spoke to me at all. This was about 45 years ago.
When the abuse scandals came to light several years back, I made another report. After being shut down yet again, I asked to speak to the "auditors who were checking to see if the churches were complying with directives. Again, no go. To date, all I've gotten is a perfunctory apology from the local Bishop, and some "therapy" sessions which did me absolutely no good at all (and cost me money!)
They can never make things right in my eyes. They'll continue to lie and cover up.
The only people who stand in defense of predator perpetrators are other predator perpetrators. Think about it. The church is not going to change and the Pope is not going to resign. Thousands of Catholics are brainwashed by the CRCC to CLOSE their minds so that they neither hear nor see the damage caused in God's name. There will be no change in the church until the blinded choose to see.

And what was Br. Rai Rose FSC doing living in the San Francisco Bay during the last part of the 1976-1977 school year, when he was supposedly still assigned to Shanley, in Fargo? Did he need to be sent there for a particular reason?

I am outraged. As a former Christian Brother, I hold religious "administrators" Dominic Ehrmantraut, Tom Sullivan, Frank Walsh, Tom Johnson, Frank Carr and any other members of the leadership team as accomplices. They covered up this horrific scandal from the 1960s until 2010. Unspeakable damage has been done to countless human beings. My rage knows no bounds! Shame on these so-called "leaders"; shame on Mr. Rose (I do not consider that he was ever a member of a religious order; rather, he dressed as a religious in order to perpetrate his unspeakable crimes; shame on anyone else who contributed to this monstrous cover-up.

ReplyDeleteI have written to Brothers Frank Carr, Thomas Johnson, and approximately 12 others in leadership positions in the Midwest. I asked them to get back to me with a response regarding the matter of R. Rose. It has now been a month. Not a single word from any of these individuals. Shameful.
